Enchanting

Okay so I was deciding that I would find something kinda new to do and discovered enchanting through a PM from a nice random guy. I bought the enchanting rod at T2. I was stoked when I discovered I could make stones out of nothing, and thats about it.

What does the enchanting skill allow me to do? What can I combine? How will it benefit me?

Helping me will very well help others out there as well. Thanks
