Damaging Cantrip's in Arena.

Default Damaging Cantrip's in Arena.
In arena i have noticed that my Damaging Cantrip's (ranks 2, 3, 5 and 9) do not always draw a new gem from my pouch when fired.

If damage Cantrips are blocked or parried does it negate the effect of the gem?
If not is this a bug?

The cantrip is part of the gem's effect. If it is resisted or prevented from fully firing then you will not gain that effect.
