Default Kite

Why is kite for dd/dot CNC vs AGI
but for melee/pet its AGI vs AGI.

Why is one hit chance stats vs def stat
while the other is def stat vs def stat?

Kiting is the act of avoiding attacks by maintaining distance between you and your foe. A melee attacker will need to make up this distance, and agility is the most reasonable stat to base that on. A caster does not need to run up to and hit someone who is trying to kite him, he merely needs to aim more carefully. Therefore, agility does not make sense as his to-hit stat for preventing kiting. If kiting is ever applied to ranged attacks, you can rest assured they will also not be based on the agility of the attacker.

By that logic casters shouldn't take damage from samurai armor either

It is known that samurai armor is imbued with magical damage reciprocating properties. The spikes are primarily ornamental.
