Hot keys in combat

Default Hot keys in combat
Any idea how to stop opening group (default no key) chat when I use any hot key in combat? I have tried re-assigning them but makes no difference.

Would playing on a mac or a laptop have anything to do with why it's not working?

Thank you, having an option to turn off "no key default chat" would fix my problem but if there is a more clever way around it that would be awesome
