Default Quests

This was sparked by a new player in civil who wondered why Nodiatis has no real quests. This has been suggested in some part a number of times before, but I feel it needs another look. Right now, quests are all exactly the same with different monsters, and can be completed only once each before rerolling. Once all quests within your ability are complete, you work a few months and maybe complete the next 3, then you're done again and eventually none are left.

You said you'd implement daily quests, but later on epic quests came out and the idea was abandoned because you can do them daily. Problem is, that's one quest you can do daily, and only so long as you've completed a pilgrimage and have killed at least 1 beast.

So I suggest a number of quests: daily quests, story or "princess" quests, and epic group quests. All of these quests will be acceptable from the Seer, under a new expandable option called Quests



Daily quests

This is fairly self explanatory, and the simplest of the lot. These quests will be unlocked by doing the standard quests. For example, if you do the kill quest in Halcyon Rapids, you will unlock the daily rapids kill quest. The daily quests will then be randomly chosen from your available "pool" of quests that are not grey. You will be given one random collection, kill, and boss quest per day, as well as one special "epic boss" quest per day, which I will discuss later.



Story or "princess" quests

These are special storyline quests! The princess has left you a message with the Seer, and he is passing it onto you. She needs you to help her bring light to the land of Nodiatis, and in order to do so she has special tasks for you. A new storyline will be available each level up to level 90, and each storyline will have several story quests within it. For example:

Slaying the Orcish Horde Part 1: *princess gives quest in her typical flowery way* Objective: Slay 20 orcs in the Orc Fortress

Upon turning it in and getting your gold/learning, you are given the second quest:

Slaying the Orcish Horde Part 2: *princess gives quest again* Objective: Collect 50 trophies of any type from the monsters in Orc Fortress

Again, turn it in and receive another quest:

Slaying the Orcish Horde Part 3: *princess again* Objective: Kill the Boss in Orc Fortress

Upon turning in the final quest in the quest chain, you are given a single uncommon/rare item based on your level +/-5. Rares will of course be far rarer than others.

These quests will be repeatable weekly, but will not give items after the first time.



Epic boss quests:

This is my favorite! In this quest, you are given what is essentially an epic task, minus the running around everywhere trying to find the stupid thing. The princess gives you a zone, and highly recommends taking friends along. You will then find the boss in that zone with your group, and fight the Epic Boss. The boss will drop loot even if you've killed it before. Upon turning the quest into the princess, you will gain a 10% bonus to active experience gains except to trophy gains for 1 hour.

These quests are repeatable daily.


I know this is a lot of work, but it won't require any graphics additions or sound additions, and you can ask for any storyline quests to be written by current nodders for the good of future nodders. It will help to keep us all interested, but even more it will help to keep new players. Thanks for reading.

Any chance some of these could be redeemed for learning skill xp?

I like the idea of more quests and your suggestions are plausible and bring in the princess for something other than whispering "Save me!" at login.

I think adding more quests would ALWAYS be a good thing, especially if they are story line quests (since nod's story line is so thin already). With a little work i could see this working very well

I doubt glitch would want us to be able to rekill tougher versions of old bosses to get items again. Other than that, I think it's all great. I also think that we should add repeatable commerce type quests where we carry trade goods from one town to the next. We would gain bonus adventuring exp and a small handful of gold for every trade good you bring to the town. Certain towns have certain commodities that only certain other towns need that weigh different amounts, so players have a wide variety of things to bring around from place to place to make gold and do some town running.

For example: Fish from T1 are sold in T2 as food, they don't weigh much, but are only worth around 3 gold each fish. They don't stack.

Super love it. more quests, xp, storyline, items... all good!

Even if only 1 of these was added at a time or only ever 1, any addition to content will be appreciated.
