Bans/squelches

Lot of controversy lately so I'm bringing up the same thing I've brought up in the past. I understand it's hard to moderate civil constantly, mods have lives. But the punishments do seem to be disproportionate to the crimes...so why not just have a rigid system with few exceptions?

Offense 1: 1 hour squelch
Offense 2: 4 hour squelch
Offense 3: 12 hour squelch
Offense 4: 24 hour squelch and final warning before civil ban
Offense 5: 24 hour squelch and civil ban for 1 month
Offense 6: 1 week squelch and civil ban for 3 months (if you manage to get here, you're a bag of crap)
Offense 7: 1 month squelch and civil ban for 1 year
Offense 8: 1 year squelch and permanent civil ban
Offense 9: permanent squelch

Obviously there's room for improvement and there would be mod discretion, but this is just sort of a guideline...because I've seen one person squelched for an hour for the first offense, and another get civil banned for the same thing.

Used to be you could get dozens of 1 hour squelches without anything worse. This is harsh compared to that, and yet not as...odd as it is now. A happy medium imo. And of course, that could be changed, just saying a guideline would be nice.

Seems legit, the idea at least. The numbers would obviously have to be considered (nine for perm ban is ridiculous!)

That is something i can support. Good idea daer, a clear set of punishments would be awesome.
The other nasty problem is: what is enforced? mb get a list of absolute no-nos out there. (beyond the -at times- rather vague civil rules...)

Bans are mean. It just makes mods ban happy. Why even moderate at all? Just say whatever we want & have fun?

people are asses and some people would be offended by what others say, which takes the fun out of the game.

if you want to be uncivil there is a chat for that, and if you want to be even more uncivil than the uncivil chat then you can pm.


most bans are made for scamming or being a general pain in glitch ass, or for scamming, or selling items in game for out of game money. all this is in the best interest of the game makers, and 99% of the game users

Might I suggest :

Offence 1. Squelch for 24 hours, 7 day civil ban.
Offence 2. Squelch for 1 week. life civil ban
Offence 3. Toon ban.

Make it so that the offences have real consequences from the outset. A gentle slap on the wrist for a whole load of early offences serves no purpose.
