here is the bug
trashcan icon is still visible everywhere after you pickup a resource either in inventory, shop, church.
the bug appear after you resource and destroy the resource using the trash can

trash can also appears in combats when you take gems in your hands

the icon doesn't appear though after you resource and put the item in inventory instead of in the trashcan

The bug/glitch happens everytime you pick something up weather it be resources trophies or gems

I don't think it's intended, because trashcan is not always available, and when it is, you still cannot destroy the items by using the trashcan
