lol, its so funny how much people speculate. sure the rook could've covered the other rook. thats not the issue. the issue is I'm one move from checkmate AND one move from taking the rook. cant protect both downer

I'm gonna compile a list for anyone curious of what would happen if white continued to play instead of resign. white has 5 moves that prevent an immediate checkmate, only 4 of them are viable so it shouldn't take too long.

instead of doing that I let Rybka do it for me. Rybka is a chess engine that at its time of calculation, was playing at 2300. 2300 is a lot higher than either mine or my opponents ELO rating. I let Rybka ponder the position for 2 hours, at times the lines it was calculating were as high as 14 moves. That doesn't seem like a lot but normally chess engines don't need to look further than 2 or 3 to see that a line is bad. Rybka found no lines that could lead to a winning position for white.
