Are we still interested in this? Glitch says he doesn't like the idea of punching stuff. I'm punching stuff on my toon atmo. I'd support a sort of unarmed class, but I think that it'd need to be heavily based on /not/ taking damage (paarries) and forcing stronger and stronger enemies against themselves. As it is now, the best class for unarmed is an Alcoholic Tactician for parry and exp bonuses. Kinda the opposite of the awesome we all want in a fist fighter.

DO NOT multiply by 1+slow% to get your new delay. 1*1.4 is not the same as 1/0.6 and your answer will be wrong.

I'm not trolling. Many things in Nod make no sense at all. However, Glitchless got it right when he made fists not do as much damage as giant axes or spears.

And I don't /want/ punching to hit as hard as giant axes or spears. I want it to be a defensive class where you focus on not getting hit and crippling your opponents or disarming them or hitting pressure points or whatever else. Fists don't hit for much, but in the hands of one who has forged their mind and body for the sake of using them they should be capable of being useful in their own way.

you're playing the wrong game for that then.... As soon as you start playing, the first you're told to do is buy an iron gaff.

Krim, don't bother. He doesn't listen to anyone telling him it isn't worth it even when proof is shown that his "calculations" are wrong.

Damn you sure want hands to prevail
I don't really see the point in having rings since we already have runes :/
On the other hand...here's an idea how to buff arms:
1.Buff "Double Bond" to work with shields:
This skill increases the stat and temper bonuses of two-handed weapons and staves by up to 100%, including shields if the other hand is empty.
This way people who want to use hand to hand combat won't suffer from low stats, making them equal just like everyone else (dw, 2h, melee weapon and shield)
2.Also introducing shields that buff bash and improved bash, just like Dragon's Talon Bow amplifies Broadhead skill 10 times.
In any case...

I support, IF it's just as expensive to do barehanded combat as it is to purchase legendary weapons.

It's cheaper in gold, but more expensive in experience (I think), as for going hand to hand efficiently you need all 3 melee skills as high as possible, +blocking, +bash, +improved bash, +double bond, making them more exp dependent
and also hand to hand users don't (literally can't) get any bonuses from melee weapons, while still retaining them from bow sets
so I think it's kinda fair, but I might be wrong

It's cheaper trophy wise, only need slash pierce crush over crit maybe precision, death blow vengeance block improved bash bash. None of the level 40 skills nor level 20 skills are usable.
It might also require whips archery and staves though this is unverified as I have been leveling them all since level1.
I agree making double bond work with shields when unarmed would be awesome and step towards making it viable.
If it's a cost/power thing.
Make a level 1 epic skill under stats called improved fighting that doesn't do anything but every 20 levels let's you have access to
Crit strike
double attack
let's double bond work on shields
the level 40 skills
count as a staff for mana energy reduction purposes
Double on hit potion effects
And finally at level 140 increases the max damage by 100%.
So it costs time experience and you still need to have the shield
